Early Education and Grants Manager:

Good Neighbor Center, a growing education and resource provider, and is looking to fill the role of Early Education and Grants Manager. Experience with the Ooromo or Karen languages and  community is a plus. Please review the list of responsibilities and qualifications. While this is our ideal list, we will consider candidates that do not necessarily have all of the qualifications, but have sufficient experience and talent. This is a full time role.  The grant writing and managing portion can be work-from-home (about 20 hours), the early education manager (about 20 hours) will be onsite Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays 5:30-9 PM year-round.  Email Amanda Jacobson, Director of Programming, at amanda@441rice.com, resume and/or letter of interest highlighting qualifications. 

Grant Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct research on prospective corporate, foundation, and government funding sources

  • Track and process corporate, foundation and government grants

  • Develop funder inquiries and proposals under the direction of the Executive Director

  • Submit materials to institutional funders, complying with all grant guidelines and deadlines

  • Draft acknowledgement letters for all institutional gifts

  • Oversee donor hard files and electronic tracking systems with assistance from interns when available

  • Work with the Database Administrator to ensure institutional gifts are recorded correctly

  • Work with the Database Administrator to develop reports

  • Duties as assigned

Grant Qualifications

  • Talent for translating complex topics into clear, concise, and compelling content

  • Internet Research background

  • Degree in Communications, English, Journalism, and/or a related field

  • Previous experience with Grant Writing and Persuasive Communications within a  Nonprofit or Foundation

  • Build and steward relationships with key leaders within the donor organizations

  • Identify specific project opportunities that align with funder priorities


Early Education Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom behavior management

  • Advocate and provide basic needs for children

  • Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities

  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents

  • Track childrens’ progress and report to parents

  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom

  • Help children reach developmental milestones

  • Collaborate with others to implement lesson plans

  • Encourage children to interact with each other to develop social skills

  • Provide appropriate supervision for children at all times

  • Maintain inventory system for classroom materials and supplies

  • Facilitate various activities for children including songs, games and storytelling

  • Adhere to health/safety and sanitation procedures 

  • Duties as assigned

Early Education Qualifications: 

  • Ability to develop activities that are fun and educational for young children

  • Ability to instruct young children in rules of conduct and learning new tasks

  • Ability to select the appropriate teaching method and adapt to children’s learning styles

  • Ability to effectively communicate with children and parents

  • Proficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to the various needs of children and parents

  • Patience and compassion suitable for working with young children
